The Chicago Bulls have officially announced a date for the most highly anticipated night at the United Center this season.
Derrick Rose will watch his No. 1 jersey take its place in the rafters on Jan. 24, 2026. The Chicago legend and 16-year NBA veteran will become only the fifth player in franchise history to have his number retired. He will join Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Bob Love, and Jerry Sloan.

— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) August 21, 2025The event will mark Part II of the organization’s retirement celebration for the local legend. After Rose initially announced his retirement ahead of the 2024-25 season, the Bulls hosted a ceremony in his honor on Jan. 4, 2025.
The emotional halftime celebration drew a packed crowd and many familiar faces from Rose’s past, including Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, and John Calipari. Former head coach Tom Thibodeau was also in attendance, as the Bulls fittingly hosted the New York Knicks that evening. All things considered, the safe assumption is that Jan. 24 will lead to a very similar gathering.
Derrick Rose’s Jersey Retirement is on the Calendar …
To the current Chicago Bulls’ credit, they rose (pun intended) to the occasion during last year’s big event. Hosting one of the East’s top teams, they went on to beat the Knicks a shocking 139-126 in front of a jam-packed UC. They even recorded an epic 41-point third quarter to put New York away early!
These young Bulls will now face another tough challenge during Derrick Rose’s second tribute. They will play host to the Boston Celtics, who expect to be a stiff challenger even without Jayson Tatum on the floor. Nevertheless, win or lose, we can expect Jan. 24 to be a night to remember at the United Center. Rose has spoken multiple times about how much the honor means to both him and the community. The moment he found out last season that the Bulls would hoist his jersey high really says it all.
By the way, single-game tickets to the main event have yet to go on sale, so keep your eyes peeled. I think it’s safe to say this will be one of the toughest seats to get in town next year.
