ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Today will make nine days this season of 90 degrees or higher and there is more to come this week.
A ridge of high-pressure is centered off the New England coast which continues to pump hot, dry air into Western New York. The News10 First Alert meteorologists expect at least another 48 hours of sizzling weather with Monday pushing into the lower 90s and Tuesday possible reaching the middle 90s. This heat should begin to relent as a series of cold fronts approach by later Wednesday.
In addition, these fronts should produce some badly needed rainfall as a few showers and thundershowers will be likely for Wednesday. The question is whether this will produce enough rain to improve the abnormally dry conditions? Right now, the latest computer modeling shows a quarter of an inch of rain or less for most locations. If this forecast holds, that amount of rain will not be enough to have any real impact on the dry conditions.
As the fronts pass the area, you can expect somewhat cooler, more comfortable weather for Thursday and Friday.
