Police asked the public for help on Saturday identifying a driver and vehicle responsible for striking a female pedestrian and leaving her to die in the street.

The crash took place at about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 4400 block of N. Harbor Drive near Laning Road, according to Harbor Police.

First arriving officers began lifesaving measures but the woman died at the scene, police said. Her name has not yet been released.

The vehicle involved in the crash may have front-end damage, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage, surveillance video or information was asked to call the Traffic Investigation Unit at (619) 323-9786 or submit an anonymous tip through San Diego County Crime Stoppers.
