‘Factory of sadness’ – Shedeur Sanders is just a pawn in Browns’ chaotic $385m quarterback game ...Middle East

Myles Garrett passionately demanded a trade from the Cleveland Browns.

“My desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent,” said Garrett, as the Philadelphia Eagles were preparing to play the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans in Super Bowl LIX.

“The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”

Then one of the best defenders in the NFL caved on his demand, following up a ‘trade me now’ Super Bowl media tour by agreeing to a four-year, $160 million contract extension to stay in Cleveland.

Garrett is absurdly wealthy.

But he re-committed himself to playing for one of the worst franchises in the NFL.

Shedeur Sanders is a pawn on Browns’ roster

The Browns’ training camp circus peaked on Monday, when a team that went 3-14 last season signed a sixth quarterback in veteran journeyman Tyler Huntley.

“Factory of sadness,” one fan tweeted.

“The Browns literally now have a starting rotation of QBs,” a second fan posted.

“Please trade or release Shedeur (Sanders) — this is a clown franchise,” a third fan wrote.

Sanders was the obvious biggest loser with Huntley’s addition, and it only became harder for the former Colorado star who fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam already let the world know that he had no interest in drafting Sanders at No. 144.

“If you’d have told me Friday night (day two) driving home, ‘Y’all are going to pick Shedeur.’ I would have said, ‘That’s not happening,’ ” Haslam said.

“At the end of the day, that’s (general manager) Andrew Berry’s call. Andrew made the call to pick Shedeur.”

Too many QBs, not enough wins

Dillon Gabriel was drafted two rounds before Sanders, which means Cleveland values the former Oregon and Oklahoma QB more.

Joe Flacco, 40, was brought back to the Browns, and is the team’s No. 1 quarterback heading into the first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on Friday.

“We in Cleveland went on a magic carpet ride with Joe Flacco in 2023,” longtime Browns insider Tony Grossi exclusively told talkSPORT.

“He came onto the team and, late November, the Browns were in the middle of a playoff chase and he put up incredible numbers – instant 300-yard passing games. They won four out of his five starts.”

Kenny Pickett is a former first-rounder who won a Super Bowl with the Eagles, while Garrett was demanding to be traded from the Browns.

And then there’s Deshaun Watson and a $230 million guaranteed contract that continues to haunt head coach Kevin Stefanski, Berry and Haslam.

Where does Sanders fit in?

There’s only one 3-14 team with six QBs in the NFL — the unlovable losers from Cleveland.

Sanders’ NFL career could stretch into the next decade.

But he was drafted by a franchise that has never won a Super Bowl, and last won a playoff game in 1994.

Sanders is currently the fourth — or fifth — QB on a team that’s going nowhere in 2025.

A few too many

NFL career earnings for Browns' QBs

$188 million – Deshaun Watson$180m – Joe Flacco$11m – Kenny Pickett$6m – Tyler Huntley$0 – Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders

He’s making $1.2 million on a roster that features six quarterbacks with an NFL career worth of $385m.

Which means that Deion’s son is simply a pawn in the Browns’ bad QB game.
