FAIRPORT, N.Y. – On Saturday, the Rochester Junior Amerks hosted Kyle’s Slap Shot Challenge at the Rochester Ice Center in Fairport. Players of all ages participated in three-on-three tournaments and competed for the hardest slapshot.
All proceeds from the event went to Kyle’s Slapshot Challenge Foundation and Golisano Children’s Hospital.
Kyle O’Donnell started the foundation months after he was diagnosed with cancer as a teenager.
“So my thing was I was constantly playing hockey before, I was very active, I was at the gym doing all that stuff, and I had to stop all that because I got sick,” O’Donnell said. “So I wanted to find a way to bring some form of activity back in the hospital, for the kids.”
