Oh my God, are the American people really the most hateful, gullible, bigoted, mean-spirited, shortsighted race of Homo sapiens ever to tread the earth, or is it just that so many of my fellow citizens are so poorly educated, so bereft of any source of non-propagandistic news, that their non-critical-thinking brains, so bombarded with ‘factoids’ brought to them by propaganda mills such as Fox so-called news or the Orwellian sounding ‘One America News’, that they’re unable to distinguish reality from the gushing stream of lies fed to them daily by their Orange Jesus?
The ongoing pogrom against our brown skinned friends and neighbors, whether undocumented or simply American citizens who look like they could be Mexican, being manhandled by masked men with unmarked cars is a national disgrace!
I mean, how can it possibly be that, according to recent polling, Donald Trump STILL enjoys about a 38% approval rating?! One has to wonder what additional catastrophes he will have to visit upon his uncomprehending subjects before this over one third of the population finally wakes up to the fact that they are being bamboozled by the world’s greatest con man? He’s swindling them out of their social safety net monies, Social Security trust fund even their pension funds, in the greatest transfer of wealth perhaps in human history; taking from the vast masses of our hard-working, taxpaying countrymen at the lower three quarters of the economic ladder, in order to give inordinate tax breaks to the top 1%, and especially to the top .1%.
Anyone who knows anything about the unconscionable distribution of wealth in this country is aware of the fact that the top 1/10 of 1% already owns something like 95% of the country’s wealth. This cohort already pays almost no taxes, with their phalanxes of lawyers designing ways for them to make fortunes every day without ever having to pay significant taxes.
It is truly an abiding mystery to me how ANYONE, at this point, could give any kind of favorable rating to this, in the words of the great Bruce Springsteen to his British audience recently, “incompetent, corrupt, traitorous” fool, who apparently feels some kind of divine right to completely blow off the ironclad requirements of the Constitution. Unfortunately, the timid judicial system has so far failed to fulfill its assigned role of coequal branch, with its duty to provide some kind of check on executive or legislative branch excesses.
I feel like tearing my hair out when I hear about such things as, in reaction to losing a case in a federal district court, personally suing all of the judges on that court! Unprecedented! And what is their reaction? To pathetically give it some credence as if it were a legitimate case being brought before the court, instead of IMMEDIATELY tossing such an absurd motion and sanctioning the lawyers who wasted the court’s time. Lock them up!
Of course, it may be that they are terrorized into their wimpishness by such realities as the maga terrorist who recently had his SUV painted to look like a cop car, got a cop looking uniform, complete with a fake badge, and went to knock on the doors of a couple of Democratic Minnesota politicians and their spouses, attempting to murder all four of them (two survived) as well as a whole list of other progressive politicians. Yet the media refuses to point out the obvious fact that this ardent Trump lover was just carrying out the stochastic terrorism inspired by the ‘Dear Leader’?
Then we have the recent bizarre Supreme Court ruling (of course 6/3, the fascist majority unanimous), which suddenly, and for the first time in our history, completely neuters the entire federal court system, one step below the Supreme Court, by stripping those courts of the ability to make rulings that apply nationwide!
In other words, they are saying that this BS artist, who demonstrates just about every day his contempt for the Constitution, the rule of law, and his sworn duty as the president, shall henceforth be able to blatantly violate his mandate to uphold the Constitution, and that the entire federal judiciary will only be permitted to make rulings on specific cases, which will only apply in that particular court’s narrowest jurisdiction. It’s worth noting that recently when he was asked if it is his job (sworn on the Bible theoretically) to uphold the Constitution. His answer? “I don’t know”! Perhaps it’s the fact that he really doesn’t know anything about anything, but when it is as black and white as the oath of office that he had just recently been sworn to…Sheesh!
This latest ruling from this historically disastrous tyrant-loving Supreme Court majority means that he can feel free to make such clearly unconstitutional decrees as the one ending the bedrock constitutional principle of birthright citizenship, and will that this complete abandonment of one of the core values enshrined in our nation’s Constitution could only be fought in one Federal Court Jurisdiction at a time!
Imagine a nation where this is the case; a child born in one jurisdiction to, say, a couple of hard-working green card holders would automatically be US citizen, where in the neighboring district, their child would not! How can this be right?!
One could write a column this long every day with the bizarre antics of this completely out of control regime. It is like a loose firehose, spraying its destruction of all the institutions that we as a society have nurtured and built over our entire history, but it seems that the MAGA people will wait until it directly affects them before they change their minds, if they ever will.
Given the size and scope of the destruction; the hundred or so dead in Texas not long after Trump and Musk fired a huge number of the federal employees of NOAA, one has to wonder that if they had been fully staffed, might they have issued warnings in time to save all those little girls at that Christian girls camp? Just wait until (cleverly hidden until after the midterm elections) the vicious cuts to Medicaid and Medicare end up kicking grandma out of her nursing home or the 17 million predicted to lose healthcare coverage are roaming our streets, dying of preventable disease. Will they then, finally, experience buyer’s remorse?!
