Naoya Inoue will take on Eddie Hearn’s charge Murodjon Akhmadaliev in a huge showdown.
The pair will meet in a blockbuster clash for Inoue’s undisputed super-bantamweight titles.
GettyInoue will take on Akhmadaliev later this year[/caption]It had previously been revealed that a bout agreement had been signed with the bout to take place on September 14.
And now the bout has been officially announced with all details sealed and delivered.
It will take place at the IG Arena in Nagoya, Japan, a state-of-the-art venue housing 17,000 spectators.
The Japanese superstar will be hoping to deliver yet another booming KO to continue his undefeated streak to greatness.
It will be his fifth defence of the titles, as he looks to continue his total dominance of the division.
Hearn previously accused Inoue of avoiding Akhmadaliev’s challenge, after he earned a mandatory shot with the WBA.
The Matchroom Boxing promoter even suggested Inoue should be stripped of his titles and removed from the pound-for-pound rankings.
But ‘The Monster’ has defied those calls and will instead make his way into the squared circle with his tough opponent.
The interim champion will be a very stern examination of Inoue’s credentials nonetheless.
Should Inoue taste victory, it will likely set up a showdown with Alan Picasso which is in talks for later in the year.
Hearn previously accused Inoue of ‘ducking’ the Uzbek’s challengeGettyThe talented puncher could then look to move up to featherweight and challenge British world champion Nick Ball in 2026.
But focus will be on Akhmadaliev who has caused havoc in the division with dynamite in his hands.
And Hearn believes it is a truly 50/50 fight despite Inoue’s sensational skills and record.
He said: “Inoue against MJ is one of the best fights in boxing.
“I have to respect Inoue for taking it because the people around him didn’t want to take that fight.
“I feel like I goaded them enough to take it. I’m very pleased they took it.
Inoue will face arguably his toughest challenge yetGetty“I see it as a 50/50 fight. The two best fighters in the division, the best fight in the division.
“We’re looking forward to going to Japan in September for that fight.”
