Patrick Mahomes has made the Super Bowl five times in six seasons as a starter.
He already has three rings — the same as NFL GOAT Tom Brady at the same stage of his career — and leads all quarterbacks for wins (89) and touchdowns (245) through eight seasons, per statmuse.
Mahomes’ body went viral as he posed with wife BrittanyBut despite his accomplishments, Mahomes still has to deal with a long line of critics and finds himself constantly defending his physique.

Kansas City radio host Kevin Kietzman launched into a staggering attack on Mahomes’ offseason regimen.
“He’s fat, he’s an embarrassment,” he said via his podcast. “Stop the fast food, do a sit up, do something. I don’t understand it.
“You can’t just run through your NFL career eating Taco Bell all the time and Door Dashing fried chicken.
“You’ve got a $500 million contract, it’s your job. He’s done nothing but eat and drink this offseason.”
Fans were quick to criticize Kietzman’s extreme take and defend their talisman.
“Let’s also recall the good old Kietzman railed on the Chiefs for drafting Mahomes and his ego is so large that he will still try to prove he was right then, despite all the evidence to the contrary,” wrote one.
“That’s harsh – did I not see Mahomes working out during the summer?? What’s this dude saying,” added a second.
“This was seriously funny. Now NFL players have to look a certain way. Their on field performance and accolades are not as important as how good they look with their shirts off,” a third commented.
Tom Brady has been sharing wisdom with MahomesGETTY The Chiefs may have one more shot with Travis Kelce at tight endGetty“Mahomes has already said he goes with this style of conditioning because it helps him stay healthy throughout the season absorbing the hits and all the contact. I think he gets the benefit of the doubt,” a fourth blasted.
Mahomes revealed why he likes to keep some weight on in a chat with Brady during the 2024 season.
“I use those hips and that oblique muscle to really rotate through there,” he said after an analyst complimented his ability to throw passes on the fly.
“The people who have seen the dad bod, that’s for a reason — that’s the obliques. I’m getting them right.”
Brady also weighed in.
“We’ve got to keep a little padding there,” he joked. “We’re getting hit all the time, they don’t understand that we can’t look like those receivers all the time.”

Mahomes’ long-time trainer Bobby Stroupe agreed in a People interview last month.
“I’ll be the first to tell you that I think an NFL quarterback should have at least 14 percent body fat,” he said. “It’s not from an unhealthy standpoint, but from a force absorption standpoint. You have to be able to take contact.”
Mahomes has indeed been working out over the offseason as he looks to bounce back from a brutal loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX.
“I feel like I didn’t play to my standard, especially the struggles that I had early in the season,” the father of three exclusively told talkSPORT after the Eagles‘ 40-22 win in New Orleans.
“There’s things that I have to get better at, and they kind of showed today on the biggest stage.”
He has been taking advice from Brady as he looks to eclipse the seven-time champ’s legacy.
“I’ve had to sit back and just listen to people talk and talk. Let’s just play football and handle it all out there,” he told Kay Adams.
Adams then asked him about how much he thinks about his own legacy.
“I think it’s just always in the back of your mind, even from the beginning of my career,” Mahomes admitted. “But at the end of the day, it’s about taking it a day at a time, day-in, day-in, just continuing to do that and that’s something I’ve been conscious of.
“Knowing how blessed I am to be in Kansas City, to have all these great players around me, and having Tom, a guy like that say that, motivates me even more.
“I’ve talked to Tom a good amount this offseason and it’s cool that he wants to give me advice. He didn’t have to be like that, he’s such a good dude. I have so much respect for him, and I’ll take any advice he gives me.”
Mahomes wouldn’t share exactly what Brady had told him but with ten rings between them, the Chiefs’ rivals should be very afraid about what they’re cooking up.
