MEDINA, N.Y. – The Erie Canal’s 200th anniversary is being celebrated with a musical journey across New York. The Albany Symphony is performing Handel’s Water Music in Medina as part of a tour along the canal.
Each performance features newly composed music about the canal, personalized for each stop on the tour.
“In Seneca Falls, we’ve commissioned a composer to create a major new work,” said David Alan Miller.
“Amplifying themes, as you are on your wonderful station, about the canal and its history and its value and its importance and its central role in New York’s history,” Miller said.
More shows are planned, including one in Seneca Falls on July 4. The full schedule is here.
