Scottish Open 2025: Course details

The Renaissance Club is the centre-piece of Scotland’s East Lothian golf coast.

It has been the permanent home of the Scottish Open since 2019 following events at Dundonald Links, Gullane and Castle Stuart.

The course, located between the world famous Muirfield and North Berwick Golf Clubs, will play to a par 70 and a maximum yardage of 7,237 yards, the same as last year.

It is unusual for having five par 3s and only three par 5s.

The course record at Renaissance is 61, achieved by both Bernd Wiesberger and Byeong-hun An.

The track has a long, tricky start while the finish is a classic mix of an easier par 5 followed by a demanding par 3 and a long par 4.

McIlroy parred the par 5 16th in his final round in 2023 before claiming birdies on the final two holes to snatch victory from MacIntyre.

Then, during his victorious final round last year, MacIntyre eagled the 16th and birdied the last to secure a memorable win.

MacIntyre has been in brilliant form in recent years

Scottish Open 2025: What has been said?

MacIntyre said: “It was special to win the Scottish Open for the first time last season and I’m really excited to defend my title.

“The home support is always unbelievable. The crowds are playing every shot with you, they live those moments as well, so to win this tournament, it was truly special and I’ll have memories from that day for a lifetime.”

McIlroy said: “Winning a national open is always special, and I’m pleased to have the chance to compete for another Scottish Open title.

“It has certainly been a memorable year so far, and I’m looking forward to carrying on the momentum to the home of golf this summer.”

Scheffler said: “I’m looking forward to getting back to the Scottish Open.

“It’s an event and a course I enjoy playing given we only get to play links golf a couple of times a year. Playing in such a strong field and in front of the Scottish fans is always fun for us.”
