Celebrate our nation’s birthday with a classic, old-fashioned Independence Day celebration on Friday, July 4, 9:30-11 a.m., at Kevin Moran Park, 12415 Scully Ave. It’s a unique Saratoga tradition started by “Mr. Saratoga,” the late Jack Mallory. There will be plenty of patriotic music thanks to the 100-plus-piece McCartysville Band, under the direction of Tadashi Okuno and conductor Jeff Yaeger.
“Voices of Freedom,” a brief history of our nation through the eyes of costumed patriots, is led by Mallory’s daughter Holly Fidrych, who says, “It’s my favorite part of the program because history is worth retelling so children can learn in a fun way,”
