Kentucky loses one of its top-ranked 2026 recruits, per report ...Middle East

News by : (SATURDAY DOWN SOUTH) -

Kentucky pledge Jarvis Strickland is re-opening his recruitment.

On Thursday, the 4-star offensive tackle from Paducah (Ky.) Tilghman told On3’s Steve Wiltfong that he was decommitting from Kentucky. Strickland had been part of the Wildcats’ class since going public with his pledge back in late March. But the recently departed Vince Marrow led the way on Strickland’s recruitment, and with Marrow swapping out his blue wardrobe for a red one, Strickland is opening things back up.

Shortly after Marrow made his move from Kentucky to Louisville to be the Cardinals’ new general manager, KSR’s Adam Luckett reported that Strickland would become a priority target for Louisville. He was a major focus for Kentucky’s recruiting efforts, and losing him is going to hurt.

Strickland was 1 of only 2 blue-chip recruits publicly committed to the Wildcats in the 2026 cycle. He was also the first player to publicly join the class and the only in-state commit. Following his decommitment, Kentucky has only 1 publicly pledged offensive lineman in the class: 3-star Indiana tackle Cameron Miller.

In the industry-generated 247 Composite, Strickland is the No. 2 prospect from the state of Kentucky and the No. 35 tackle in the class. He sits at No. 412 overall in the national player rankings.

Louisville currently holds commitments from 3 of the state’s top 5 recruits in the 2026 class. If the Cardinals were to add Strickland, they’d hold 4 of the top 5. The Cards also hold verbal pledges from the state’s ninth-, 10th-, and 13th-ranked recruits.
