Nate Diaz has ‘changed his mind’ on boxing Darren Till, with the latter facing difficulties finding his next match in the ring.
That’s according to Till’s manager and Head of Boxing at Queensberry, Lee Eaton, who has labelled his man ‘the most avoided fighter’ in the sport right now.
Till has contested two boxing matches in 2025 and won both of themGettyTill extended his undefeated boxing record to 2-0 when he defeated fellow ex-UFC star Darren Stewart in Derby under the Misfits banner last month.
The 32-year-old had made this debut in January, stopping Anthony Taylor inside six rounds in Manchester.
The Liverpudlian’s impressive performances in the ring have caught the attention of those in the ‘crossover’ boxing world, with many sensing a lucrative pay day if they fought Till.
Diaz, meanwhile, hasn’t competed in the ring since a victory over fellow MMA veteran Jorge Masvidal in July 2024, having transitioned to the sport in August 2023, when he was defeated over 10 rounds by Jake Paul.
The 40-year-old Stockton native is still technically a UFC fighter, but hasn’t contest a bout in Dana White‘s promotion since submitting Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 in September 2022.
He was reportedly eyeing up a return to boxing against Till, but that door has now been firmly shut according to Eaton and Till himself
In an update on Till’s future on X, Eaton explained that Diaz had pulled out, adding that his fighter was struggling to meet any big name in the ring.
“Nate Diaz agreed to fight Till and changed his mind, citing weight,” Eaton wrote.
“[He] probably knows he gets knocked out. Mike Perry has priced himself out, which basically means he doesn’t want to fight Till.
“Masvidal has basically done the same as Perry, so enough said there.
Eaton said Diaz cited weight as the reason for his pull out from a fight with TillGetty Diaz’s last combat sports outing was a victory over Jorge Masvidal in July 2024Getty“Carl Froch has said he might be down to fight Till next year, which is odd, as he said last week he only needs four weeks on his YouTube.
“And Tyron Woodley has said he is thinking about it, but doesn’t look like he fancy’s it. Sure he would be confident when he already beat Till in the UFC.
“Darren Till – the most avoided fighter fight now.”
Till has since backed up Eaton’s comments on social media through a video explaining the current situation.
“I had fight news to announce this week,” Till said on Thursday. “Basically, Nate Diaz called the fight on with me.
“He wanted to fight me on August 2, he called the weight, he called everything, and I accepted.
Till has said he’s ready to fight anyone in AugustGetty Till would also fight ex-UFC champion Woodley, who was knocked out by Jake Paul in 2021Getty“I got straight into camp on Monday. Now, he’s pulled out of the fight.”
Till went on to explain how he the likes of Perry and Masvidal have ‘priced themselves out,’ while former super-middleweight boxing world champion Froch wants to wait until next year.
He continued by calling the aforementioned names ‘a gang of absolute s***house ponies,’ concluding that he is ready to go in August against anyone.
Till fought in the UFC for seven years until 2022, contesting for gold once against Woodley for the welterweight title at UFC 228 in 2018.
Woodley also made the same transition as Till in 2021, facing YouTuber-turned-professional boxer Paul twice.
He lost the first fight in August 2021 via split decision but was brutally knocked out in the rematch five months later.
Till said Perry has priced himself out of a fight, as he is seeking over $1millionEsther Lin/MVPTill and Perry have also gone back and forth several times.
The former said Perry offered him £350,000 to fight in his Dirty Boxing Championship promotion, which is co-owned by Jon Jones.
But Till never heard anything after the original offer, as he claimed Perry’s camp never reached out.
Perry has fought MMA in the UFC, bare-knuckle, and boxing, with his last fight in the squared circle a July 2024 loss to Paul.
