(PINPOINT WEATHER) -- The National Weather Service has issued multiple Tornado and Severe Thunderstorm Watches in effect until 8 p.m. Friday for parts of North and South Carolina.
A Tornado Watch, meaning conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form, is in effect for areas including Ashe, Watauga, Wilkes, Alleghany, and Yadkin Counties in North Carolina.
Residents are urged to stay alert and have a plan in case tornado warnings are issued.
Severe Weather Timeline: Here’s when the strongest storms will impact Charlotte FridayA separate Severe Thunderstorm Watch is also in effect for 16 counties in North Carolina, including Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, and Mecklenburg.
South Carolina counties such as Chester, Chesterfield, and Lancaster are also included.
Storms in these areas could bring damaging winds, large hail, and frequent lightning.
