ORINDA, Calif. (KRON) -- Shocking surveillance video shows a smash-and-grab burglary at an East Bay consignment store. The thieves smashed glass displays with hammers and pepper sprayed employees and customers.
KRON4 spoke with the store owner Cindy who says she and staff are still shaken up.

Cindy says around 11 a.m. Saturday, five men came rushing into the store, pepper spraying her employees and customers.
"She didn’t have to go to the hospital, which I thought because she was, an older lady and the customers were fine. I had one of the staff go home," Cindy said.
Thieves can be seen smashing multiple glass displays with hammers causing more than $20,000 in damages. About $100,000 in jewelry was stolen.
“They’re not gentlemen; they weren’t gentlemen that bombed in and our staff was crying and it was very very upsetting to us in our small community, this just doesn’t happen here," Cindy said.
Cindy says she and her employees are still shaken up from the burglary. But she's thankful for all the support from the Orinda community.
“They help a lot, they’re great, they’re supportive, they cosign things they say, '“Please don’t leave please don’t let this happen to you,’ We have the best jewelry, it's very very hurtful," Cindy said.

Cindy's store has become a staple in the community. While this burglary has her on edge, it won't stop her from continuing on.
The owner Cindy is working with Orinda police as the crime is still under investigation.She has created a GoFundMe to help pay for the damages.
