Vacaville K9 officer out of hospital after being shot in January ...Middle East

Murph was shot during a domestic disturbance call. Tuesday afternoon, we were able to meet him and his handler — Officer Chad Hudson. 

Unfortunately, because of the severity of his injuries, Murph's front leg had to be amputated. He was home a few days later and had his stitches removed just this week. 

The department says the plan is to bring Murph back on the force as a detection dog, so he'd be helping officers by sniffing out narcotics. 

Luckily, the faithful partner fund at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine paid for the surgery, and the vet staff says Murph is doing great.
