 England will also have concerns over the fitness of centre-back Stones, who was replaced at half-time after appearing to roll his ankle in the first minute, though manager Gareth Southgate later played down the severity of the injury.

Iceland put up a valiant effort throughout the match, but ultimately fell short in their quest for victory. Their disciplined defense kept England at bay for much of the game, but they were unable to find the back of the net themselves

This victory for England is sure to boost their confidence as they continue their campaign in international competitions. It highlights their resilience and determination to come out on top even in challenging circumstances.

Harry Kane somehow squandered from mere inches out, it was a very quiet evening for England and it looks like there's plenty of work to do before the international tournament gets underway
