More notably, her time of 4:32.54 marks a new continental and national record.
Hein is the reigning world junior champion in this event, as she won the 2025 World Jr Championships in a time of 4:34.34. That performance has stood as her PB, the Argentinian Record, and the South American Record since.
In just one year, the teen phenomenon has shaved 5.87 seconds off her PB — her lifetime best back in early August 2025 was 4:38.41. Her swim tonight puts her at the #21 performer in history for the 400 IM, behind Melanie Margalis (4:32.53) and ahead of Emma Weyant (4:32.76).

She made up that entire deficit and more on the breaststroke leg, splitting a full two seconds faster — 1:20.02 compared to 1:22.02. She finished hard with the 2nd fastest closing 50 of the field, behind only Japan’s Mio Narita who closed in 29.81 but ended up taking 8th.
The Argentinian still has the 200 IM and 400 Free left on her schedule, the former of which she is also the South American record holder in.
