The 14-seed Golden Grizzlies fell to 11-seed N.C. State, 79-73 in overtime at PPG Paints Arena in the second round of the NCAA tournament, just 48 hours after becoming the early darlings of the tournament by knocking off 3-seed Kentucky.
Golden Grizzlies (24-11) are the No. 14 seed and will face the No. 11 NC State Wolfpack (23-14) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 
Behind Jack Gohlke's 32-point effort and 10 3-pointers, Oakland upset No. 3 seed Kentucky, 80-76, Thursday night in first-round play. Horizon League Player of the Year Trey Townsend had 17 points in the win. DQ Cole nailed a corner 3 with 28 seconds remaining to give the Golden Grizzlies a four-point lead. 
The Wolfpack (24-14) led the majority of the night before the Golden Grizzlies came back to take the lead late in the second half. The teams battled to a 66-66 tie at the end of regulation to force overtime, where the Wolfpack pulled away for the victory.
DJ Burns, Jr. led the Wolfpack with 24 points to go with 11 rebounds to send NC State to its first Sweet 16 since 2015.
NC State who emerged victorious, securing their spot in the next round of the tournament. But both teams should be commended for their hard-fought effort and sportsmanship displayed throughout the game. It was truly a thrilling matchup that will be remembered by fans for years to come
