This is the third time that Douglass has swam to a new World Record in the 50 freestyle this summer as she originally broke the record swimming a 23.59 at the Pro Series stop in Indianapolis back in July. Her Virginia training partner Gretchen Walsh lowered that record with a 23.55 in June but Douglass claimed the record back this morning with her 23.49 before posting a 23.19 tonight.
With her time tonight, Douglass now has three of the top five performances all-time in the women’s 50 freestyle.
