Sport by : (PRESSBEE) -

On a chilly evening at Anfield, Liverpool faced off against Nottingham Forest in a highly anticipated match. Both teams were evenly matched, with chances coming few and far between. The game seemed destined to end in a stalemate until the 89th minute when Liverpool's Nunez scored a late goal to rescue his team from a disappointing draw.

The atmosphere in the stadium was electric as fans erupted in cheers and applause for the heroics of Nunez. The goal was a thing of beauty, showcasing his skill and composure under pressure. Nottingham Forest fought hard until the final whistle but were unable to find an equalizer.

Núñez's 99th-minute goal put Liverpool four points clear of second-placed Manchester City with 63 points from 27 matches -- although Pep Guardiola's side have a game in hand. The result left a shattered Forest four points above the relegation zone in 17th.

Manchester City, which plays Manchester United on Sunday. City visits Liverpool in the league next weekend.

Nunez headed home Alexis Mac Allister’s cross for Liverpool’s latest match-winning goal in the league.

Forest fans can take some solace from Luton's awful first-half performance at home against Aston Villa.

It means that, if Aston Villa keep their lead at Kenilworth Road, Nuno's side will still have a four-point buffer to the bottom three.

But that could be wiped out if they are punished for breaching the Premier League profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

Another nervy end to the season looks likely for Forest supporters.

Mohamed Salah -- who sat out again Sunday with a hamstring injury -- forcing him to plug holes with young players.

"If you'd told me 12 days ago we would win all four games I would have said no chance, it was impossible," Klopp said. "In the circumstances winning the games is ridiculous."

Substitutes Núñez and Dominik Szoboszlai returned from injury on Saturday, and their impact was immediately felt.

Liverpool teenager Jayden Danns made his first league appearance as a late substitute for Cody Gakpo as the visitors pressed for a winner.

Forest skipper Ryan Yates brilliantly blocked Nunez’s shot on the edge of the box, but after Morgan Gibbs-White’s effort was blocked at the other end, Forest was punished for failing to clear a corner.

Mac Allister swung over a cross from the right and Nunez stole in between Forest defenders to secure Liverpool a sixth straight win in all competitions.
