Game came to Gillette Stadium on Saturday, as the 124th Army-Navy football game descended upon Foxborough for an unforgettable day that took college football's centerstage and culminated with a last-second win by the Cadets of West Point.
"I've never seen anything like this," Patriots owner Robert Kraft told ESPN's College GameDay early in the day from the stage outside the stadium. "We had a gala last night and people are coming together in a way that is unique and the gravitas of this game is something, yeah, maybe when you get to the Super Bowl and you win it's a similar kind of feeling, but you can't replace it. It's what's great about America."
Army makes fun of the Navy for being posh, the Navy can’t make fun of the Army because the Army is clearly the best, and everyone makes fun of the Air Force.   The rivalry remains in generally friendly territory, as at the end of the day most servicemembers have respect for all other service members, regardless of branch.  However, that doesn’t stop “Go Army, Beat Navy” from being a common refrain in my household.
My dad has been in the Army for over twenty years, and that has meant a lot of different things for my family.  It means that upheaval was the norm and not the exception, and that I’m considered lucky for mostly growing up in one place.  But it also means that for every community we leave behind, we are welcomed into a new community of military families who are willing to do life with us, whether it’s for three months or three years.  And it means that once a year, I take myself and my limited football knowledge, sit down in front of a television screen, and cheer on the Army football team.
Forster would return his forced fumble 44 yards for a touchdown, giving the Black Knights a 17-3 lead inside the final five minutes, but Levatai responded admirably to his mistake and led Navy 59 yards and into the end zone after just two minutes — Navy would fail an ensuing two-point conversion attempt.
Despite recovering the onside kick, Army's next possession was doomed quickly by a pair of pre-snap penalties on first down, and relaxed coverage from the Black Knight secondary allowed Levatai to drive inside the red zone before his ill-fated 4th down plunge.
With a win Saturday, Army secured bowl eligibility for the fourth consecutive season under Jeff Monken.
