Mendocino County Public Health Officer Dr. Andy Coren announced Friday that a variant of the Covid-19 virus known as the “UK variant” had been identified among the county’s cases. “We just received notice that the California surveillance testing has found a variant B117, the UK variety, here in Mendocino County last month,” Coren said in his latest video update April 30. “The UK variety is 50-percent more transmissible, and is more virulent.
