Junior Nationals qualifier Kolby Martin has announced his verbal commitment to swim for Saint Mary’s College of California beginning in the fall of 2027.
“I am thrilled to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Saint Mary’s College of California! First, I would like to thank God for blessing me with this incredible opportunity and guiding me throughout this process. I would also like to thank my parents and friends for all of their support over the years and for always pushing me to be my very best. I would like to thank Coach Eliseo, Coach Ted, and Coach Shannon for developing me into the swimmer I am today. A huge thanks to Coach Ellie, Coach Paige, and Coach Carter as well for this amazing and one of a kind opportunity. Go Gaels! ”
A senior at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, Texas, Martin has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming and diving team since his freshman year. He currently trains year-round with Aggie Swim Club; a versatile threat in the water, he excels at free, breast, fly and IM.
Martin turned in a strong showing at the 2025 Winter Junior Championships – West in December, logging a personal best time in four events. He contested the 100 free (46.38 – PB), 200 free (1:40.73 – PB), 100 breast (58.34), 100 fly (49.35 – PB), 200 fly (1:49.72 – PB) and 200 IM (1:52.31).
At the 2026 Justin Sectionals in March, Martin posted a series of top performances, earning a second swim in three events. He placed 5th in the 200 fly (1:49.27 – PB), 13th in the 400 IM (4:04.96) and 23rd in the 100 breast (56.92), and he contested the 100 free (48.10), 500 free (4:41.48), 200 breast (2:06.89) and 200 IM (1:56.42).
Martin has qualified for the UIL (University Interscholastic League) 5A State Championships three years in a row, with his top performances thus far coming at the 2026 iteration in February. He took the runner-up spot in the 200 free (1:39.03 – PB) and the 100 fly (48.89 – PB). He also set a best time in the 100 free (46.17) as the leadoff on the 400 free relay and helped his team secure the state title in the 200 medley relay.
Over the summer, Martin competed at the Futures Championship (LCM) in Austin, where he posted a string of top swims. He placed 2nd in the 200 fly (2:02.64 – PB), 12th in the 100 fly (55.94), 22nd in the 50 fly (25.58 – PB) and 27th in the 50 breast (29.81 – PB) and 200 IM (2:10.64 – PB). He also contested the 100 breast (1:05.20 – PB) and 200 free (1:55.65 – PB). A week later, Martin raced at the 2026 Junior National Championships (LCM) in Irvine, where he contested the 100 free (52.87 – PB), 50 breast (29.89), 50 fly (26.04), 100 fly (56.93) and 200 fly (2:06.95).
