Murderdolls Reuniting After 9 Years for First Show Since Joey Jordison’s Death

Horror-metal band Murderdolls has announced its return to the stage for the first time since permanently disbanding in 2011.

The band has joined the line up for Graspop Metal Meeting, taking place in Dessel, Belgium on June 18, 2027.

Confirming the reunion in a social media post, the band wrote in a caption on its official Instagram account, “Ghoul scouts! It’s the dawn of the dead…”

The family of the band’s late co-founder, drummer-turned-guitarist Joey Jordison, also confirmed the news in an Instagram post, writing, ““We’re excited to announce that Murderdolls have officially joined the lineup for Graspop Metal Meeting 2027.”

Marking the first show that the band will play since Jordison’s death in 2021, the festival is a momentous occasion in the band’s career.

Since disbanding in 2011, Murderdolls has only reunited once before — without Jordison — for a one-off show in 2018 to pay tribute to former drummer Ben Graves, who had died earlier that year.

Murderdolls was formed in 2002 by former Slipknot drummer Jordison and singer Wednesday 13. According to Louder Sound, the band began as a new side-project inspired by the musicians’ shared love of Alice Cooper, the Misfits and ’80s glam metal.

“Joey actually asked me, ‘Do you like Slipknot?’,” Wednesday 13 told Metal Hammer in a 2023 interview. “I said, ‘Not really’ and he just laughed. He loved it that I didn’t care who he was. He wasn’t like, ‘I am Joey Jordison, you better do what I say.’ He never had that type of attitude.”

The band released its debut album, Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls, on Aug. 20, 2002 via Roadrunner Records. In the U.K., the record peaked at No. 40 on the Official Album Chart, while it took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart

In 2023, Murderdolls earned a spot among Louder Sound’s list of “10 best heavy metal supergroups” that lived up to the hype.
