Junior Nationals qualifier Henry Zanton has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Wisconsin beginning in the fall of 2028. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at Wisconsin in 2028! I want to thank my family for all their support throughout the years. I am very grateful for Jake and Shane at MAC, and Wes and R.J at Middleton for all their guidance and training. I also want to thank the coaching staff at UW, especially coaches Jack and Johno, for believing in me as a swimmer. I have been fortunate to have the support of many great coaches and mentors over my years swimming for MAC, Middleton Cardinals, and Cross Plains Stingrays. I can’t wait to be a Badger! On, Wisconsin!!
A junior at Middleton High School in Middleton, Wisconsin, Zanton has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming and diving team since his freshman year. He also trains year-round with Madison Aquatic Club, where he specializes in breaststroke and IM.
The 2025-26 season was a breakthrough for Zanton, who dropped over five seconds in the 200 breast, nearly five seconds in the 200 IM, and over two and a half seconds in the 100 breast. In December, he competed at Winter Junior Nationals, where he placed 25th in the 200 breast with his current lifetime best of 2:00.53 and 67th in the 100 breast with a then-PB of 56.60.
Zanton set his current lifetime bests in the 100 breast and 200 IM at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Division I State Championships in February, touching second in the 100 breast (55.62) and third in the 200 IM (1:52.01). He also helped Middleton win gold in the 200 medley relay, splitting 25.67 on the breaststroke leg.
Over the summer, he qualified for Summer Junior Nationals (LCM) in August, finishing eighth in the 200 breast (2:17.27), 28th in the 100 breast (1:03.79), 70th in the 50 breast (29.69) and 77th in the 200 IM (2:09.44). All but the 100 breast were personal bests, as he had swum a faster 1:03.64 earlier in the summer.

100 Breaststroke: 55.62 200 Breaststroke: 2:00.53 200 IM: 1:52.01The Badger men placed fifth out of nine teams at the 2026 Big Ten Championships before going on to finish 32nd at the NCAA Championships. To score at the meet, swimmers needed 53.58 in the 100 breast, 1:56.36 in the 200 breast and 1:46.36 in the 200 IM, which leaves Zanton outside the cutoffs for now, but he has nearly three seasons of training ahead before his first conference meet.
Zanton joins distance freestyler/IMer Lachlan Bartholomew and sprint freestyle/backstroke specialists Brecken Curran and Graham Henderson in the Badgers’ class of 2032 so far.
