Comedy legend Mel Brooks is giving fans another glimpse of his unmistakable sense of humor, even at 100.
The legendary filmmaker made a rare public appearance in Hollywood on Sunday, November 1, stepping out in a black suit and a baseball cap celebrating one of his most beloved movies, Spaceballs.
Brooks, who celebrated his 100th birthday in June, kept his look relatively understated, but the themed cap was a fitting reminder that his connection to the comedy classic remains as strong as ever.
His appearance offered fans a fresh glimpse of the EGOT-winning entertainer, who continues to have projects connected to his celebrated career.
According to People, Brooks is preparing to reprise his role as Yogurt in the upcoming sequel, Spaceballs: The New One. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 23, 2027.
The original Spaceballs, released in 1987, became one of Brooks’ best-known comedy films. His return to the franchise has generated excitement among longtime fans, particularly with several familiar faces expected to appear in the sequel.
Actress Daphne Zuniga, who is also returning as Princess Vespa, previously revealed that Brooks wanted his scenes filmed early because of his age.
“He was his idea: ‘You better film me now because I’m 100,'” Zuniga recalled, explaining why the production filmed his part before the rest of the movie.
Brooks’ son, Max Brooks, has also described this period as a new career renaissance for his father, with renewed interest in revisiting some of his classic projects.
The filmmaker has spent more than seven decades entertaining audiences through movies, television and theater. His celebrated body of work includes The Producers, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and Spaceballs.
His 100th birthday was another major milestone for the comedy icon. The American Film Institute marked the occasion by moving Blazing Saddles to the top of its list of the 100 funniest American movies.
