Mageean’s Death Came Shortly After Her Wedding
Mageean’s death came shortly after the Olympian wed her long-time partner in a small civil ceremony in Belfast. Dressed in a white slip dress and veil, Mageean planted a kiss on her husband, Thomas Moran, in the sweet ceremony. In the caption, she spoke about the special moment.
“I hope you didn’t think we were skipping the party ? An incredible day yesterday in beautiful @darver_castle, surrounded by the most amazing people,” Mageean captioned the photos, which showed a behind-the-scenes look at the joyful celebration.

Mageean has opened up about coming to realize that she wasn’t okay. The first sign of her illness was a change in her bowel habits.
“I would get up in the morning, and I would need the toilet four times. I thought, ‘That’s not normal,’ ” she recalled, PEOPLE reported. “I was feeling kind of crampy and was wondering if I had eaten something that upset my stomach. I kept finding logical reasons for it, which many people would. I thought, ‘Oh great, on top of everything else, I have an irritable bowel.’ ”
She was given a prognosis of “two to three years.”
