Happy November, friends. The Bears are 5-2, just added an impact defensive lineman, and are reportedly looking for more help. What a time to be alive.

According to The Athletic’s Playoff Simulator, the Bears have a 76 percent chance (up from 71 percent) of making the postseason. Their most likely path (as of now) is via the Wild Card, which sits at a 53 percent probability (up from 48 percent) heading into Week 8. They also have 12 percent odds to host a game on wild-card weekend, which is down from the 14 percent it was at before Week 7. Their odds of landing the No. 1 seed are up from 7 percent to 11 percent. A win against the Seahawks on Monday Night Football would do wonders for morale. But more than that, it would boost their playoff odds to 88 percent. A loss will drop them to 66 percent. There is still so much football to play, but the calendar flipping to November gives us more incentive to keep an eye on the odds. ESPN’s NFL FPI gives Chicago’s football team the following odds: 77.9%: Make the playoffs (down from 78.8%) 24.1%: Chance to win the NFC North (up from 22.1%) 48.9%: Reach the divisional round (up from 47.4%) 25.7%: Go to the NFC Championship Game (up from 24.3%) 12.3%: Make the Super Bowl (up from 11.6%) 6.3%: Win the Super Bowl (up from 5.8%) I don’t know how the Bears’ playoff odds took a hit while everything else across the board went up. But I’m not a mathematician. Or a mathemagician. — Aldo Gandia (@BearsBarroomHQ) October 31, 2026 When the Bears signed defensive lineman James Lynch this offseason, I noticed that pictures featuring him with the Titans often featured Jeffery Simmons in the frame. Defensive linemen who have a nose for a football don’t grow on trees, so I’m glad to see that Chicago got one in Simmons. As for Lynch, he gives Nicholas Moreano a scouting report on his former Titans running mate. — Chicago Tribune (@chicagotribune) November 1, 2026 I had this thought I wanted to share after the World Series ended, but it got sidetracked with Thursday’s breaking Bears news:The World Series is over. Now, the MLB offseason begins. What makes this all the more intriguing is that it could all get blown up on Dec. 1, when the CBA expires. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like if the NFL offseason began immediately after the end of the Super Bowl. But I can imagine two sides hashing out a new CBA to make sure the offseason goes off as planned — which is essentially what happened with the NFL in 2020. I doubt that will happen with MLB, but at least the blueprint is there to be used.
That said, I have optimism for MLB’s future. But the owners also have to see it and get out of their own way.CHECK OUT THE BN BEARS PODCAST: Apple | Spotify | YouTube
