Another day, another article featuring a little bit of my interview with Bulls rookie Caleb Wilson.
Two other parts of the interview, one on Wilson’s relationship and rivalry with Cam Boozer and another breaking down his development as a playmaker, are already live! Do check them out.
The final part of the interview should also be out early tomorrow. But all in all, it’s been a great experience and an even better conversation with a player who could be one of them ones for Chicago.
Also in today’s Bullets: Isaac Okoro vents his frustrations with the Bulls’ defense, trade rumors involving the New Orleans Pelicans, and more.
Let’s talk Bulls basketball.

Mandatory Credit: David Butler II-Imagn Images Since there was a possibility of Caleb Wilson getting drafted by the Chicago Bulls, our ears have been on the pulse of just about everything he has said. We’ve heard his opinions on ‘The Last Dance documentary’, his excitement about playing in Chicago and what he thinks of Tiago Splitter as a head coach. But in asking all the bigger, more important questions, we didn’t really get around to asking him some of the smaller, fun ones. Well, don’t worry, I did that too! Let’s take a look at what he had to say. The first question I threw at Caleb in a rapid-fire format was: “Outside of the Bulls, what’s your favourite Chicago sports team?” His answer?“The Bears.”
Slightly surprised by that one, considering Caleb is a noted baseball fan who had even considered pursuing a career in baseball before committing to basketball. He’s also thrown out the first pitch for the Chicago White Sox and attended batting practice before catching a Chicago Cubs game. Maybe he’s still on the fence about which team to support, but you can never really go wrong with Da Bears!Chicago runs on Caleb W's pic.twitter.com/pPQClKUC05
— Chicago Bears (@ChicagoBears) June 24, 2026 The next question was: “What’s the latest you’ve ever stayed in the gym?” Caleb’s response?“I have spent the night before. But probably like 1 a.m.”
I mean, there’s really no need to fact-check that one. Caleb posts about his late-night workouts almost every day. Even Bryson Graham has spoken about how he constantly sees Caleb putting in the work, sometimes to the point where trainers have to ask him to stop.Caleb Wilson putting in some late-night work. ?? pic.twitter.com/ceBXCvyrQ1
— CalebWilsonLover (@CalebWilsonZone) August 22, 2026 Speaking of his Instagram account, Caleb is part of a new wave of NBA talent that embraces its social media presence and pays attention to how it presents itself online. Which is why I asked him: “Between your main Instagram account, your spam account and your X account, which one should fans follow to get the authentic Caleb Wilson experience?” Caleb’s answer?“Probably my backup Instagram account.”

— CalebWilsonLover (@CalebWilsonZone) October 7, 2026 And finally, the last question in the rapid-fire round was a little more topical. Burlington partnered with the Chicago Bulls as the team’s Preseason Presenting Partner and the presenting partner of the Luvabulls dance team, bringing fan experiences, exclusive giveaways and in-arena activations to the United Center throughout October. So, my question was: “What’s the best find you’ve picked up at Burlington?” That one definitely had Caleb thinking for a bit.“Ooh. A nice trench coat. It’s essential in Chicago.”
Wilson is definitely getting the hang of the Windy City, and it’s kind of cool to know that Caleb and I shop at the same places! Beyond basketball, Burlington is also investing in the Chicago community through initiatives that include a citywide pep rally featuring Bulls alumni and Benny the Bull, merchandise giveaways at local stores, and its sponsorship of the Chicago Ultimate Women’s Expo. Back to Bulls news, and their loss against the Boston Celtics sparked plenty of conversations about the team’s poor effort. The comments that got the most airtime online were Caleb Wilson’s remarks about not wanting to get used to losing and the standards he believes the Chicago Bulls should uphold as a franchise.“I’ve never been a loser in my whole life, so I’m going to try my best to make sure that doesn’t happen. I’m never going to accept being a loser.”Caleb Wilson following the Bulls’ 125-111 loss to the Celtics tonight pic.twitter.com/1O1VAQMRYM
— Bulls on CHSN (@CHSN_Bulls) October 31, 2026 But he wasn’t the only one frustrated by the result. So was the Bulls’ current best perimeter defender, at least according to Tiago Splitter, Isaac Okoro. Speaking after the game, Okoro didn’t hold back:“You just gotta have it. Can’t be coached. I mean, at the end of the day, we’re in the NBA. We’re professionals playing basketball for millions of dollars. Before we even got paid, we were playing because it’s the game we love. Not for the money, not for anything. Not a lot of people can say they could play the Boston Celtics; they could play the New York Knicks.”
Okoro wasn’t afraid to pull back the curtain on what he felt was missing from the team’s performance. And honestly, their effort (or lack thereof) in protecting the paint was just awful and one of the biggest reasons the Bulls found themselves in an early hole against Boston.“Every time you step on a court, you should be blessed that you’re actually in this position, so you can’t coach effort. (If) you’re coaching effort, then you’re just not in a good place.”
And Okoro continued, making the case that being a young team should be more of a gift than a curse.“You should be playing harder,” Okoro said. “The old guys are the ones that don’t play hard. I’ve played on teams with older people; those are the ones that kinda relax. … If you’re young, you should be hungry.”
Asked Isaac Okoro whether he thought effort could be coached or had to be in you already. This, and more from last night, over at @TheAthletic, unlocked for all: t.co/2bValeSKiy pic.twitter.com/dW2K49duhc
— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) October 31, 2026 I’ve never really been a fan of the Okoro move or how he played last season. But if this is the mentality he’s trying to instil in a young and impressionable Bulls team, I’m on board. Filling that defensive hole would definitely be easier with some better personnel, and it looks like the Bulls could be in the running for one of two interesting names.According to Chris Dodson of ClutchPoints, “Multiple teams are monitoring the situation surrounding both Jones and Trey Murphy III. Among those mentioned by sources or seen in an arena are the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies.”
Two very interesting names that would be worth considering, provided the price tag isn’t too high. If I had to pick one for the Bulls to focus on, it would be Herb Jones. A former All-Defensive Team selection whose trade value might be at an all-time low, Jones could be an Alex Caruso-type acquisition for Chicago. He could come in, revive his defensive value on a team that desperately needs it and potentially become a more valuable trade asset down the line.BULLS ON BLEACHER NATION: Go Ad Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
