Late ‘Looney Tunes’ Voice Actor to Make His ‘Simpsons’ Debut Posthumously

Fans of animation franchises such as Looney Tunes were shocked to learn of Eric Bauza‘s unexpected death this week. Yet there’s still more work by Emmy-winning voice actor hasn’t yet seen the light of day.

It’s hard to believe he hasn’t played a Simpsons character yet, but that’s about to change. Variety reports that Bauza’s premiere on the iconic series is happening November 15 on Fox, with the episode “Dream Scenari-Moe.” It’s bittersweet, of course, since that means Bauza’s “Simpsons” debut is now posthumous.

“The Simpsons” co-exec producer Cesar Mazariegos, who is the co-showrunner of the episode, confirmed to Variety that Bauza voices two characters: restaurateur “Mr. Fong” and newspaper editor “Harry Metsali.”

“Everything people have said about Eric, before and after his untimely passing, is absolutely true,” Mazariegos told the magazine. “He was so funny, kind, creative and just immensely talented. We reached out to him to play two New-Yorky characters for our ‘Dream Scenari-Moe’ episode, and he knocked it out of the park. He seamlessly dipped in and out of dozens of voices, both to give us options and just hilariously riffing while off-mic.”

Bauza’s family shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram account Sunday night, October 25. In their statement, they remembered him as the modern voice of the Looney Tunes stars, along with dozens of other cartoon characters fans grew up with. Still processing the loss, they kept their message short, closing with: “More details to come.”

Since then, some answers have come. NBC Los Angeles reported that the LA County Medical Examiner listed his cause of death as hypertensive cardiovascular disease, with the manner of death ruled natural.

Hypertensive cardiovascular disease is damage to the heart and blood vessels caused by long-term high blood pressure.
