Dancing With The Stars pro Britt Stewart is not leaving the ballroom anytime soon.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan published on Thursday, Oct. 29, the pro dancer addressed rumors that she’s leaving the ABC reality series after being eliminated within the first three weeks of competition for three consecutive seasons.
The outlet specifically referenced an article from The Sun which claimed Stewart decided to quit after she and her celebrity partner Taylor Hanson were eliminated from season 35.
“The first thing I thought about when I saw that [headline] was when I was approached by a little Black girl at Dancing With the Stars. She came up to me and said, ‘You are amazing, good job,’ and I said, ‘Thank you so much,'” Stewart said. “I gave her a high-five, but her mom then followed and said, ‘Every time my daughter saw you go on the floor, she just, like, gasped. You being in the ballroom means so much for us and for my little girl.'”
“And so when I see something like that [headline], I just think, you know, that girl would be so disappointed in me if I don’t accomplish what I want to accomplish,” she continued. “And I know I haven’t accomplished all that I could.”
In 2020, Stewart made DWTS history by becoming the show’s first-ever Black female pro. Prior to that, she performed in the show’s dance troupe for five seasons.

Since making her pro debut in season 29, Stewart has been eliminated within the first few weeks in five of her seven seasons on the show. She previously made it to the semifinals with her now-husband Daniel Durant on season 31 as well as Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir on her first season.
After Stewart’s most recent elimination, Hanson revealed he specifically requested the fan-favorite pro as his partner because she “represents the spirit of why this show is great.”
The next episode of DWTS airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+.
