Chicago Bears General Manager Ryan Poles is about to go viral for this one.
New Bears meme unlocked Hearing Ryan Poles say “F Them picks” is hilarious ? pic.twitter.com/oljRK9uDFD
That isn’t A.I., friends. That is pulled straight from his Friday press conference as he discussed the Jeffery Simmons trade (and more) at Halas Hall.
With that being said, that isn’t the only message Poles relayed on Friday:
#Bears GM Ryan Poles says "F them picks is a big thing but that’s not what we’re about." Says he is going to challenge his staff to hit in the drafts moving forward and continue to excel with undrafted free agents.
— Brad Biggs (@BradBiggs) October 30, 2026#Bears GM Ryan Poles made it sound like he’ll be conservative between now and the deadline. Said that the team won’t be throwing around draft picks.

This feels like a good time to bone up on which picks the Bears have going into the next two NFL Drafts:
2027 Picks:
2nd round 3rd round 5th round (via trade with Falcons for Gervon Dexter Sr.) 6th round 7th round2028 Picks:
2nd round 3rd round 4th round 5th round 5th round (via trade with Titans for Jeffery Simmons) 6th round 7th roundI can understand why Poles and this front office would be conservative going into the 2026 NFL Trade Deadline. However, there is a part of me that wonders if Poles making it seem like he will be more conservative between now and the Nov. 10 deadline is the type of thing that could be viewed as a public negotiation ploy. We are truly in the most fascinating times to be a Bears fan.
Bears GM Ryan Poles stands on the sidelines during a preseason game in 2025. | Mandatory Credit: David Banks-Imagn ImagesI’m impresed with how Bears GM Ryan Poles’ brain is operating right now. If it were me, I’d be all-in on trying to make the 2026 Bears the best that they can be, picks be damned! But despite how easy it is to fall into that trap, Poles isn’t doing that. This isn’t to say that he isn’t working hard to make this year’s team better. Heck, you saw what he did to bring in an All-Pro game-wrecking interior defensive lineman in Jeffery Simmons. But he believes that he has a window of years that he can operate in as a general manager looking to add.
With that being said, it is clear that Poles knows that he would be doing damage by mortgaging too many draft picks for one given season.
If anyone knows the value of Day 2 and Day 3 picks when it comes to team-building, it should be Poles. Wide receiver Luther Burden III, left tackle Ozzy Trapilo, and cornerback Kyler Gordon are among the impact players on this team who have been selected with Day 2 picks. Cornerback Malik Muhammad, defensive end Austin Booker, offensive lineman Braxton Jones, and even punter Tory Taylor were Day 3 selections who I consider important pieces to this puzzle. So while I love the “eff them picks” mentality, there needs to be balance in the Force in order to win a championship.
That said, I wouldn’t mind a Khlail Mack trade if the cost of doing business isn’t more than a Day 3 pick. Just saying…
