Savannah Chrisley’s Fiancé, Jason Galanis, Is 27 Years Older and Was Sentenced to Nearly 16 Years in Federal Prison

Savannah Chrisley is preparing for two major life changes: becoming a mom and marrying a man 27 years her senior.

The Chrisley Knows Best star announced Tuesday, Oct. 27, that she is pregnant with her first child and engaged to Jason Galanis, 56. But beyond their age gap, her fiancé has a complicated past that includes a federal securities-fraud conviction and a prison sentence later commuted by President Donald Trump.

Chrisley, 29, has been candid about the difference in their ages, making it clear that she isn’t concerned about what other people think. And Galanis’ history adds another unexpected chapter to a relationship that began after she became involved in political advocacy for her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley.

Savannah Chrisley Defends Her 27-Year Age Gap With Jason Galanis

Chrisley revealed more about her relationship during Tuesday’s episode of her Unlocked With Savannah Chrisley podcast. She said the couple began dating in July 2025 after Galanis reached out to congratulate her on her efforts to secure her parents’ release from prison.

The couple kept their relationship largely private before announcing their engagement and pregnancy. Galanis proposed during a trip to the Cayman Islands in December 2025, according to People.

Addressing their age difference, Chrisley was unapologetic.

“I have always said I would rather 20 phenomenal years with someone than 50 ‘meh’ years with someone,” she said.

She also praised Galanis for making her feel loved and secure. In her pregnancy announcement, she called him “My protector. My fiercest fighter. My most loyal person,” adding that she finally felt she could “exhale.”

Her Fiancé Was Sentenced to More Than 15 Years in Prison

Galanis’ past, however, extends well beyond his relationship with the reality star.

In September 2020, he was sentenced to 189 months—nearly 16 years—in federal prison for his participation in multiple securities-fraud schemes.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the schemes included manipulating shares of publicly traded company Gerova Financial Group and defrauding investors, as well as a bond scheme involving the Wakpamni Lake Community Corporation, a Native American tribal entity.

Prosecutors said Galanis and his co-conspirators misappropriated bond proceeds intended to support tribal economic development. Galanis was ordered to forfeit more than $80 million and pay more than $80 million in restitution.

Galanis pleaded guilty in January 2020 to charges related to the schemes.

Donald Trump Commuted Galanis’ Sentence in 2025

Galanis’ prison sentence took a significant turn in March 2025, when Trump commuted his sentence to time served, with no further fines, restitution, probation, or other conditions specified in the clemency document, Politico reported.

Two months later, Trump pardoned Todd and Julie Chrisley, who had been convicted in a separate case involving bank fraud and tax evasion. Savannah had publicly advocated for her parents’ release.

According to CBS News, Galanis contacted Savannah after her parents received their pardons, and their conversation eventually developed into a romance.

Now, as the couple prepares to welcome a child and marry, Chrisley says she’s found the relationship she had hoped for. The pregnancy announcement has introduced fans to a new chapter in her life and renewed attention on the man she plans to build it with.
