Adam Brody Reveals His ‘Embarrassing’ On-Set Quirk

Actor Adam Brody revealed he has a tendency to exhibit some unconventional behavior before filming scenes.

During an October 2026 interview with ELLE magazine, while promoting the third season of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, Brody was asked to share his “biggest on-set quirk.” He replied that he has been known to shadowbox while on a set.

“If I have to have a lot of energy for a scene, I like to shadow box before I go into it. So that’s kind of an embarrassing thing. I do it a fair amount,” said the O.C. star.

Brody then shared that he shadowboxed before filming a Nobody Wants This season 1 scene, where his character Rabbi Noah Roklov romantically chases after his love interest Joanne (Kristen Bell).

“I remember one in the end of the first season, where I’ve, like, ran to catch up with her in the very last scene in the season. And so I’m out of breath, and I’m sweaty. And so, like, before that I’m shadowboxing in the corner,” said Brody during the ELLE interview.

He then described his on-set quirk as “fun and a little embarrassing.”

“Mostly people just avert their eyes,” quipped the 46-year-old.

Adam Brody Shared His Thoughts About Playing the ‘Hot Rabbi’ in ‘Nobody Wants This’

During the October 23 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Brody shared his thoughts about playing Noah, who’s known as the “hot rabbi,” in Nobody Wants This. He shared that the character’s nickname, which highlights his attractiveness, “initially made [him] a little self-conscious.”

“It’s like when you’re not Miss America, you’re like, ‘I’m beautiful or whatever,’ then it feels like, ‘Do I have something to live up to all of a sudden?’ Is there an expectation?” said Brody.

Brody also said he has gotten inspiration from real Rabbis and attractive people, in general, for the role.

“From rabbis, I take the rabbinical stuff. Hotness I can find anywhere. I just have my antenna up. I’ll pull for inspiration from any religion, any man or woman,” said Brody, who has been married to actress Leighton Meester since 2014.
