Four-time North Carolina high school state champion Campbell Lange has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Notre Dame beginning in the fall of 2028. She publicized the news on Instagram, writing:
I am SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame!! I would like to thank my friends, teammates, and family, especially my parents, for being there for me every step of the way because I couldn’t have done it without your constant support. Thank you Jamie, Tom, George, and David for pushing me to achieve my goals and never giving up on me. Thank you to Coach Bruce and all of the TAC Titans coaching staff for believing in me from day one, and thank you Jonah and Matt for teaching me to have fun in every moment. I am so unbelievably grateful for Coach Mike, Joao, Jess, Max, Trevor, and ALL of the Notre Dame staff for believing in my potential and offering me this amazing opportunity. GO IRISH!!!
A senior at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, Lange has swum on her school’s varsity team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with the TAC Titans, where she specializes in the sprint freestyle events.
The 2025-26 short course season saw Lange drop more than two and a half seconds in the 200 free and about half a second in both the 50 and 100 free. She set her lifetime bests in the 50 free (23.36) and 100 free (50.67) at the NC YOTA 32nd Annual YOTA/Arena Capital Classic in December 2025, before going on to make ‘A’ finals for the first time at the YMCA National Short Course Championships in April. There, she placed fifth in the 100 free (50.76) and sixth in the 50 free (23.47), her second-fastest swims ever in both events, and took 11th in the 200 free with a personal best of 1:51.28.
On the high school scene, Lange won four gold medals at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) 7A State Championships in February. She captured the 50 free (23.47) and 100 free (51.19), then anchored the 200 medley relay (23.88 split) and the 400 free relay (51.38) to victories. Those swims came on the heels of fifth-place finishes in all four of those races a year prior in the 5A classification.

50 Freestyle: 23.36 100 Freestyle: 50.67 200 Freestyle: 1:51.28A Division I program, the Notre Dame women finished 11th out of 15 teams at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. Times of 22.56, 48.91, and 1:46.88 were needed to score in Lange’s top events, putting her outside the cutoffs for now, though she still has nearly two full seasons of training ahead before lining up at her first conference meet.
Lange joins fellow sprint freestyler and breaststroker Sedona Stratton and breaststroker and IMer Liliana Quevedo in committing to the Fighting Irish’s class of 2032 so far.
