The Chicago Bears released their first injury report ahead of their Sunday game against the Atlanta Falcons, with positive updates for quarterback Caleb Williams.
Williams, who has missed the team’s last three games, would have been a full participant in Wednesday’s practice had the team held a workout at Halas Hall, the Bears said.
A hamstring injury has been dogging Williams in recent weeks, but he returned to practice in limited fashion on Friday. He was listed as questionable before the Bears took on the Green Bay Packers, but ultimately did not suit up for the game, though he did work out on the field prior to the contest.
Head coach Ben Johnson has not indicated whether he believes Williams will be under center this weekend against the Falcons, though there are plenty of questions surrounding the quarterback position after Tyson Bagent was benched during Sunday’s loss to the Packers.
The Bears also said that defensive back Kyler Gordon would have been a full participant in Wednesday’s workout as he works to make his way back from a calf injury that landed him on the physically unable to perform list to start the season.
The news was not so good for running back Kyle Monangai, who was listed as out for Wednesday’s walk-through at Halas Hall. Monangai missed Sunday’s game against the Packers with a toe injury, and his status for the Falcons game remains up in the air.
Another question mark could be pass rusher Dayo Odeyingbo, who is dealing with a quadricep injury. That ailment is poorly timed for the Bears, as Montez Sweat will miss the team’s next two games after violating the NFL’s performance enhancing substances policy.
Linebacker TJ Edwards (hamstring) and linebacker Keyshaun Elliott (quadricep) were also listed as non-participants in practice.
Finally, cornerback Tyrique Stevenson would have been limited in practice as he deals with a hip injury.
The Bears are expected to hold a full workout at Halas Hall Thursday, and Bears fans could get a better idea about Williams’ availability when the injury report is released.
