Kentucky high school state finalist Meredith Carricato has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Towson University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Towson University. I want to thank my family, teammates, and Coaches Mike, Nick, and Mimi for supporting me throughout my journey. I also want to thank Coach Tony and Coach Emily for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. GO TIGERS!
A senior at Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, Carricato has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with Lakeside Swim Team, where she primarily specializes in freestyle and butterfly. She is coming off a 2025-26 season that saw her drop a second and a half in the 200 fly, nearly a full second in the 100 free and 200 free, and a couple of tenths in the 100 fly.
Carricato set her current personal best of 2:06.05 in the 200 fly at the NAC Timedrop Music City Invitational and her bests in the free events at the SE TNAQ Speedo Southern Premier in March, where she clocked 52.47 in the 100 free and 1:53.16 in the 200 free.
On the high school scene, Carricato placed sixth in the 200 free (1:53.79) and seventh in the 100 fly (57.17) at the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) State Championships in February. She had swum a lifetime-best 56.75 in the 100 fly at the first round of the KHSAA circuit a few weeks prior.

Carricato’s current best in the 200 fly would have qualified for the ‘B’ final, while her 100 fly and 200 free times would have advanced to the ‘C’ final. She is also not far off the 52.25 needed to earn a second swim in the 100 free, but the event conflicts with the 200 fly, so the team would likely keep her in the fly. Even without that swim, she is set up to contribute right away, with two full seasons of training still ahead to keep dropping time.
So far, the Tigers’ class of 2031 also includes Hannah Ellis, who swims back, breast and fly, and breaststroker Anna Majewski.
