For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Francesco Ceolin from Preganziol, Italy has flipped his commitment to Michigan for the 2027-2028 season. Ceolin originally announced his verbal commitment to Harvard back in January 2026.

“I’m happy to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Michigan. I’m very grateful to Coach Aaron Bell and Coach Matt Bowe for their trust and for this opportunity.

A special thank you to my family for always supporting me, to my coach Andrea Franconetti and everyone at Stile Libero / Team Veneto for helping me grow over the years, and to Collegio Pio X in Treviso for supporting me throughout high school and helping me balance academics with high-level swimming. I’m looking forward to joining Michigan and beginning this next chapter. GO BLUE! ”

Ceolin finished his summer season at the 2026 European Junior Championships, where he won silver in the 100 fly. He posted the top time in prelims in a 52.83 as well as semifinals in 52.45 before touching in 52.23 in the final for 2nd. He also swam a lifetime best 23.87 in the 50 fly in prelims, then placed 9th in semifinals with a 23.91. He helped Italy win the 400 medley relay, splitting 51.60 on the fly leg.

Ceolin’s Best LCM Times (With SCY Conversions) Are:

    100 fly: 52.00 (45.58) 100 free: 49.58 (43.22)

The Michigan men finished 2nd out of 9 teams at the 2026 Big Ten Championships with 1,208 points, finishing only behind Indiana. The team went on to finish 8th at the NCAA Championships.

Based on his best converted times, Ceolin would have been 4th on the team’s roster this past season in the 100 fly. He would already make the Big Ten ‘B’ final as it took a 45.17 to make the ‘A’ final. Tyler Ray, Ole Eidam, and Colin Geer all made the Big Ten ‘A’ final this past season.

Ceolin will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with Brody Reber, Henry Anstine, Boone Wilcox, Allen Gyang, Anthony Dornoff, Charles Howard, and Ben Luginski.
