In the days leading up to the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, the forecast appears to have shifted — and it means good news for runners.
Chicago is going to see temperatures around 80 degrees this weekend, but thankfully the remnants from Isaias, a Category 2 hurricane surging toward the U.S. Gulf Coast, will help carry in much cooler air for marathon Sunday, according to NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Kevin Jeanes.
The morning will start out mild with temperatures near 60 degrees at 7 a.m., just before the race begins. There will be plenty of clouds and possible sprinkles at times through the morning, but things stay dry heading into the afternoon.
Temperatures will warm up only a few degrees, into the mid 60s, for the rest of the day as the wind moves in off Lake Michigan. It shouldn’t be too windy but some gusts could reach up to 15 mph.
Afternoon temperatures near the lake stay in the 60s, while some areas a few miles inland could reach the 70s.
The forecast is a welcomed change after earlier concerns a tropical storm could impact the race day weather.
