YMCA’s Healthy Aging Day

The Schottland Family YMCA in Pittsford is one location participating in Healthy Aging Day. It’s holding group exercise classes, cooking classes, pool sessions, and other events for older adults from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can learn more about Healthy Aging Day celebrations here.
Venus Williams at Empowering Women Luncheon
Tennis legend and entrepreneur Venus Williams will be a guest at the 20th annual Empowering Women Luncheon at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center on Wednesday. It’s a fundraiser for the YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County.
This year’s theme is “serving strength, building futures,” aiming to celebrate strength in collective power. The YWCA says it’s honored to welcome Williams for her work on and off the court. She’s not only won seven Grand Slam titles and four Olympic gold medals, but has also been involved in several business ventures.
The luncheon begins at noon, followed by a conversation with Williams and Dr. Myra Henry, president of the YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County. The funds raised will go toward critical supportive housing, in-home community care services, specialized workforce development programs, and other YWCA programs. News10NBC’s own Deanna Dewberry will emcee the event. Tickets have sold out, but you can learn more about the YWCA and donate here.
