Junior Nationals qualifier Trevor Donley has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Denver beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Denver. First, a special thank you goes to my mom, dad, and brother, who have been there for me since day one. Next, thank you to my friends and teammates, from RMSC, Calverton, and more. Thank you to my coaches, Jeff, Jim, and Maneth, for getting me to this point and helping me achieve my dream. Thank you to Coach Alicia and Coach Mark for this amazing opportunity. This has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to become a pioneer. GO PIOS!!
A senior at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., Donley trains year-round with Rockville Montgomery Swim Club, where he specializes in distance free and the 400 IM. He is coming off a breakthrough 2025-26 season in which he dropped nearly 25 seconds in the 1650 free, about 11 seconds in the 400 IM, more than six and a half seconds in the 500 free, and over three seconds in the 200 free.
Donley kicked off the season with a lifetime best of 3:55.21 in the 400 IM at the MD RMSC November Dual Meet, then swam 1:40.84 in the 200 free and 4:29.99 in the 500 free at the METRO Championships in February. He closed the season at the NCSA Spring Championships at the end of March, where he placed 11th in the 1650 free (15:28.85, PB), 18th in the 400 IM (3:55.42), and 22nd in the 500 free (4:30.21). His 1650 free PB qualifies him for both Winter and Summer (LCM) Junior Nationals, while his 400 IM best is under the Winter Junior Nationals (SCY) qualifying standard.

Closing out their time in the league, the Denver men clinched their fifth straight Summit League title at the 2026 conference championships.
Based on the results from the 2026 MPSF Championships, Donley’s current personal best in the 1650 free would have placed fifth in the ‘A’ final. His 400 IM and 500 free PBs would have made the ‘B’ final, and his 200 free PB would have made the ‘C’ final, positioning him to contribute right away, with two full seasons of training still ahead before he lines up at his first conference meet.
Donley joins backstroke and butterfly specialist Roman Rodriguez as the only publicized commits in Denver’s class of 2031 so far.
