In a statement to TMZ, she claimed that he was the victim of “relentless cyberbullying” before his death.
“Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved,” she told the outlet, adding that he “will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.”
The two share a daughter, and Blanchard said that she “will make sure (Aurora) grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him.”
Blanchard explained that Urker dealt with an “unimaginable level of public scrutiny” and “relentless cyberbullying” on social media, saying that the “cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure.” She said that the online harassment had a “profound impact” on Urker.
TMZ was the first to report that Urker had died, as he was found unresponsive in Louisiana on Thursday, Oct. 1, which was also his birthday. Blanchard had texted Urker, “Happy Birthday,” but did not receive a response. He was found by Gypsy’s brother Dylan at the home.
The Lafourche Sheriff’s Office told the outlet that they “responded to a residence in Raceland today after receiving a call at 6:15 p.m. Kenan Urker, 34, was found dead upon arrival. At this time, we are continuing the death investigation.”
The two began dating after Blanchard broke up with her ex-husband, Ryan Anderson. They welcomed their daughter, named Aurora Raina Urker, in December 2024.
Blanchard became widely known following the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in which she ultimately pleaded to second-degree murder in 2016 and was released from prison in December 2023.
