Winter Juniors qualifier Jack Miceli has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of California-Santa Barbara beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I’m excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of California Santa Barbara. I first want to thank my parents for always believing in me and supporting me. I want to also thank my family and friends for their support. I would’ve never made it this far without my awesome coaches, Coach Jess and Coach Shannon, along with my teammates and NCAP family. I also wanted to thank Coach Alyssa for teaching me how to swim and love the sport. Finally I want to thank Coach Jax and Coach Matt for this incredible opportunity. I’m very grateful and can’t wait for the next 4 years! Go Gauchos!!
A rising senior at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, Virginia, Miceli has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming team since his freshman year. He also trains year-round with Nations Capital Swim Club, where he primarily specializes in butterfly, backstroke, and the 400 IM.
Miceli is coming off a 2025-26 season that saw him drop more than 11 seconds in the 400 IM, two and a half seconds in the 200 back, upwards of two seconds in the 200 fly, and roughly a second and a half in both the 100 fly and 100 back. His top meet of the season came at the NCSA Spring Championships in March, where he finished 25th in the 400 IM (3:57.40 – PB), 32nd in the 200 fly (1:49.99 – PB), 68th in the 200 back (1:51.99), 72nd in the 100 back (50.83 – PB), and 100th in the 100 fly (50.83 – PB). He registered his current 200 back PB of 1:50.98 a few weeks earlier at the Potomac Valley Open Championships.
On the high school scene, Miceli finished eighth in both the 100 back (51.98 – then PB) and 100 fly (51.94) at the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 5 State Championships in February; it was his third time making an ‘A’ final after touching sixth in the 500 free as a sophomore.
Over the summer, Miceli clocked a time of 2:05.88 in the 200 LCM butterfly, qualifying him for the Winter Junior Championships in December.

Miceli’s current personal bests in the 200 fly and 400 IM would have qualified for the ‘B’ finals, setting him up to be an immediate contributor with still two full seasons of training ahead before lining up at his first conference meet.
Miceli joins Holden Campos, John Luisetti, Jackson Kroh, and Pablo Ingrum in committing to the Gauchos’ class of 2031 so far.
