Two-time Oklahoma high school state champion Jasper Jernigan has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Pepperdine University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I’m so excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Pepperdine University! Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates, and friends for always supporting me. A big thank you to Coach Dan and Coach Emma for giving me this opportunity!! GO WAVES!
A senior at Crossing Christian School in Oklahoma City, OK, Jernigan has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with King Marlin Swim Club, where she specializes in sprint freestyle.
Jernigan is coming off a breakthrough 2025-26 season that saw her drop over 11 seconds in the 200 free, more than two and a half seconds in the 100 free, and a full second in the 50 free. She clocked all of her current lifetime bests, 23.79, 52.45, and 1:52.72, at Speedo Sectionals – Columbia in March, where she placed 29th in the 50, 28th in the 100, and 15th in the 200.
On the high school scene, Jernigan won the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) state title in the 50 free (24.15) and 100 fly (59.30) this past February with then-career bests.

50 Freestyle: 23.79 100 Freestyle: 52.45 200 Freestyle: 1:52.72A Division I Mid-Major program, Pepperdine competes in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), with the women’s team placing sixth out of 10 teams in 2026. Jernigan’s current lifetime best in the 200 free would have qualified for the ‘B’ final, while her times in the 50 and 100 free aren’t far off the 23.70/51.93 needed to earn a second swim in those events, setting her up to be an immediate contributor, with two full seasons of training still ahead before even lining up at her first conference meet.
Jernigan joins Addison Corso, Avery Hearon, Ava Terella, and Eva Morin in committing to the Waves’ class of 2031 so far.
