India national cricket team skipper of the ODI team, Shubman Gill, has completed his 3,000 ODI runs as an opener for the Indian cricket team. He achieved the feat tonight (September 27), during the India vs West Indies 1st ODI match at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
Shubman Gill claimed the milestone as the eighth Indian opener. Significantly, in the era of T20 cricket, the skipper touched the 3,000-run mark in a very quick fashion. To defeat West Indies in the match and to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, India needs to score 296 runs in 50 overs.
