The US Treasury Departmentdispatched teams across the globe under “Operation Economic Outcast” to pressgovernments to take action against Iran, according to Treasury Secretary ScottBessent.
In a post on X, Bessent pointed torestrictions on Iranian aviation and banking as results of the outreach, sayingTurkiye and Oman had stopped Mahan Air flights, while the United Arab Emirateshad halted all flights by Iranian airlines. Major commercial banks in the UAEand Turkiye had also stopped transactions with Iran, he added.
Bessent further cited the Iranianrial’s fall to record lows as evidence of the economic toll of the war andthanked the governments of the United Kingdom, Turkiye, Oman and the UAE fortheir cooperation.
