ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A powerful nor’easter will be bringing heavy rain, whipping winds, and coastal flooding to the north Atlantic coast this weekend… Here in Western New York, the impacts won’t be as bad. It still won’t be a perfect weekend however, as we do expect our winds to turn a bit breezy and some rain showers to make their way into the region tomorrow.
We’re starting off our Saturday with cool temperatures ranging from the mid 40s inland to near 60 along the lakeshore, and we’ll see the mercury rise to the upper 60s this afternoon as high clouds move in from the nor’easter. Winds will peak out of the northeast at 20 MPH. If there’s enough gaps in the sky to our west this evening, we could be treated to a very nice sunset. Speaking of sunsets, tonight’s is at 6:59pm… The days are getting shorter!
Evening temps will drop from the low 60s to upper 50s, and remain there overnight near Rochester and drop further to the low 50s farther south. There should also be some clearing before more clouds move in by tomorrow morning.
Moisture from the nor’easter will make it far enough west to cause rain in our area Sunday afternoon, moving east to west. It won’t be a washout, with only a few tenths of an inch of rain expected at most. Buffalo should stay off the rain until later in the afternoon, meaning most if not all of the Bills game should be dry. Bring a rain jacket if you’re headed that way just in case, however. Highs will be a bit cooler and the breeze will be noticeable; out of the northeast up to 25-30 MPH.
A few more stray showers are likely Monday among mostly cloudy skies. We see sunnier days middle of the week as temperatures slowly climb back up to the 70s.
