Lena Dunham and her husband, Luis Felber, celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary after becoming first-time parents.
“Five years married. Sometimes you get set up on a blind date with a friend’s friend’s friend and you’re like ‘Hey, I know I’ve proven myself an unreliable narrator of love, but I think I’m gonna marry him,’” Dunham, 40, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, September 24. “Everyone who has witnessed your meandering path is kinda like ‘OK, at it again, are we psycho?’ (in a nicer way.) But then you do.”
She continued, “And he turns out to be a wonderful husband, a beautiful father and an incredibly skilled curator of hair accessories. Don’t quit before the miracle.”

Dunham was present when the surrogate gave birth, eagerly anticipating her baby’s arrival.
“I sat on a hospital bed, between the legs of a woman I hadn’t known a year ago, waiting for a glimpse of this person who I had been waiting for with something related to patience, but also none at all,” she recalled in her essay. “I was so focused on our surrogate — in awe at her concentration, her period of quiet followed by what sounded like a roar — I forgot to look down until I heard our baby’s cry. I saw her face, gasping just as she did.”
