Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Bree Smith from Lowell, North Carolina, will swim and study at Stanford University beginning next fall. At the time of her commitment, she wrote on social media:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Stanford University!! I want to thank my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for always believing in me and for their unwavering support. A special thank you to Coach Chris, Coach Annie, and Coach Marcus for this amazing opportunity. GO CARD!!”
A senior at Gaston Day School, Smith swims for her school and for SwimMAC Carolina. She is one of the top sprinters in the cohort, for which we ranked her a “Best of the Rest” recruit on our list of top girls’ swimmers from the high school class of 2027.
Smith won the 50/100 free (23.03/50.68) at the 2026 North Carolina Independent School Division 3 State Championships, repeating the titles she had won as a sophomore (23.08/50.24) and as a freshman (23.37/51.35). Her best times in the sprint double date from SwimMAC’s SC/LC meet in November 2024, where she placed 3rd in both events with 22.73 and 49.46, respectively.
Over the last year, Smith has dropped a second in the SCY 200 free, 1 second in the 100 back, and .6 in the 100 fly.
She had an outstanding long-course season this past summer, improving her lifetime bests in the 100 free (56.54), 200 free (2:04.43), 50 back (30.83), and 100 fly (1:02.35). The 100 fly time was earned at U.S. Nationals, where she qualified to compete in the 50/100/200 free and 100 fly. The following week she swam the 50/100/200 free at Summer Junior Nationals, finaling in the 50.
Smith will join the Cardinal in the class of 2031 with verbal commits Ines Arnall, Carolin He, and Izzy Riva. It took 22.56/48.91/1:46.88 in the freestyle events, 52.61 in the 100 back, and 53.31 in the 100 fly to score at the 2026 ACC Championships, where the Stanford women finished in 2nd place behind Virginia.
Best SCY times:
50 free – 22.73 100 free – 49.46 200 free – 1:48.79 100 back – 56.25 100 fly – 55.45If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].
